BUSHMANS KLOOF – TOP 500
ANOTHER PRESTIGIOUS, INTERNATIONAL ACCOLADE

Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Retreat is proud to share their latest world-wide accolade with its inclusion amongst the ‘Top 500 – The Worlds Best Hotels, Resorts, Lodges, Inns and Safari Camps’ by readers of the prestigious USA Travel + Leisure magazine.

The much-anticipated annual list, which identifies the 500 highest rated properties in the world that have demonstrated a track record of excellence - was published in the Travel + Leisure January 2005 edition. This issue offers exclusive information, including the overall score of each property. The scores are an indexed average of evaluations concerning five characteristics: rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food, and value. Statistically, Bushmans Kloof achieved an outstanding overall rating of 93.48, with a service rating of 94.57 and a location rating of 96.74.

This follows the Travel + Leisure August 2004 edition which voted Bushmans Kloof the 5th ‘Top Hotel in the World’, as well as 4th in the ‘Top Hotels in Africa and the Middle East’ category and the ‘Top 15 Small Hotels’ category.  The property received a Grand Award in the coveted annual USA Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report (2004).

Bushmans Kloof is located in the Cederberg mountains, 270km from Cape Town (South Africa), which is part of the Cape Floral Region, recently classified as a World Heritage Site in recognition of its status as a place of ‘outstanding universal value’, by the United Nations World Heritage Committee.

The lodge is a luxurious 5-star Relais & Châteaux retreat that offers a sanctuary for relaxing, discovering, healing and restoring, as well as a safe and protected shelter for wildlife and many endangered species of flora and fauna.  Bushmans Kloof is the proud custodian to over 130 documented rock-art sites, from one of mankind’s earliest civilisations, the San Bushmen. In recognition of its dedication to the preservation and conservation of their rich cultural history of this ancient land, Bushmans Kloof has been awarded South African Natural Heritage Status.
