NEW GM FOR BUSHMANS KLOOF WILDERNESS RESERVE & RETREAT

Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Retreat is proud to announce the appointment of Nelson and Jannis Rodrigues as the new Lodge management couple to head up this exceptional property at the foothills of the Cederberg, 270km north of Cape Town. Nelson has taken up the reigns as General Manager of Bushmans Kloof whilst his wife Jannis, has a dual role as Front Office Manager and Virtuoso Liaison Manager. The Rodrigues couple bring a wealth of experience in diverse aspects of hotel management and the tourism industry to Bushmans Kloof, gained at some of South Africa’s leading hotels and tourism groups.  

Over a 15 year period, Nelson has chalked up invaluable experience in all aspects of business and operations pertaining to Hotel Management.  With a National Diploma in Hotel Management from the Cape University of Technology, his previous work experience includes a stint as General Manager at The Best Western Cape Suites, Assistant General Manager at the V& A Waterfront City Lodge (Cape Town) and eight years at The Mount Nelson Hotel, working in various departments. With a National Certificate in Travel Agency Competence, Jannis has more than 15 years of experience in Front Office at leading hotels in the Western Cape. She previously worked at Fancourt Hotel & Country Club Estate, The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel (another Relais & Chateaux property) as well as The Mount Nelson Hotel.  For the last three years she was responsible for contract negotiations and supplier relationships for The Thebe Tourism Group.    

Nelson will be instrumental in leading the team and applying the 5 main fundamental values of Bushmans Kloof:

Recently named winner of the Relais & Chateaux Environment Trophy 2007, Bushmans Kloof is a sanctuary for many indigenous plants, animals and birds, including the endangered Cape mountain zebra. A South African Natural Heritage site, daily activities include rock art walks to some of the more than 130 rock art sites that are found in the reserve as well as evening game drives with sunset drinks and snacks served in the reserve. The reserve lies within the Cederberg wilderness area, which forms part of the Cape Floral Region, which has been declared a Wolrd Heritage site.
