The Manor House offers two luxurious suites, Niven – complete with satellite television facilities - and Paterson. It also boasts two deluxe rooms, a large wooden deck positioned in the cool shade of an ancient ficus tree with exquisite views of the River Boma, lush green lawns and the Boontjies river.

The Manor House acts as official check-in and welcome area. Custom made fabrics and hand-made bed linen enhance the luxury and comfort of the bedrooms, while the bathrooms are delightfully ‘au naturel’ with soft lighting and natural colours, shades and hues adding to their charm. All rooms have direct-dial telephones, underfloor heating, ceiling fans, mini-bar fridges and temperature control units.

Manor House: a history

In 1991 Bill and Mark McAdam purchased 7 500 hectares of overgrazed and severely neglected farm land in the foothills of the Cederberg. They began resuscitating the veld, and after consultation with wildlife and botanical experts, implemented a long term veld management programme to restore the natural botanical richness of the land, and started re-introducing indigenous game.

Guest rooms, swimming pools and the Homestead were built, and the landscaping of the indigenous gardens began. The crumbling 1843 farm house was magnificently restored as the Manor House, and extended with new wings, deep verandahs, and a great wooden deck, built under the ancient ficus trees. In 2000 Bushmans Kloof was accredited to the prestigious Relais & Châteaux association.

In 2004 the property was purchased by its present owners and the Manor House was transformed into gracious reception rooms as well as two luxury suites and two deluxe rooms, each bearing the name of early Scottish pioneers and explorers who lived in or visited the Cederberg area: Gordon, Paterson, Niven and Masson.
